Treasured Thursday Devotional- It’s The Simple Moments That Knit Us Together As A Family

We have this moment to hold in our hand, and to touch as it slips through our fingers like sand. Yesterday’s gone and tomorrow may never come, but we have this moment today~ Gloria Gaither

Does the mention of the P 31 woman make you shake in your boots, wondering if you can ever measure up to those high standards?

Proverbs 31:27-28

New Living Translation (NLT)

27 She carefully watches everything in her household
and suffers nothing from laziness.

28 Her children stand and bless her.
Her husband praises her:

Those two little verses say so much! They speak volumes in terms of all we would like to give to our families. And for those of us women that have been called into ministry we take this mandate even more to heart, trying to balance it all effectively and with some finesse.

In my case lately I have been under a very taxing trial and this has added baggage on to my already carefully sectioned task plate.

But the one point I return to over and over is the fact that GOD is in charge so it’s up to HIM to make sure it all works out for my good and the fact that I understand that I am not called to manage task ultra effectively but instead I’m asked by GOD to be mindful and intentional in everything HE allows me to touch.

The Savior once reminded me of the fact that there is nothing, no task or deadline that is more important than my attitude.

With this fact carefully kept in focus I am able to bring a standard to each task that I attend and everyday moments with my family can be made into celebration/ focal points of seeking the Divine and Sacred ( Jesus Christ) more clearly!

Application Point of  Focus: The natural enemies to sacred moments being clearly defined, experienced, perceived and celebrated is to be intensely focused on self, rushed and wallowing in the spirit of impatience.  These are the areas in which asking for God‘s direct intervention in the form of revelation will open up new avenues of growth so that the energy that is being used in the frustration cycle can be released to live more richly and fully in the moment.

Power Verse: Psalm 90:14

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all of our days.

Let’s Pray, shall we?

Dear God, I pray You would cleanse my heart of all that is not of You. Pour out Your Spirit afresh in my life and wash away all negative attitudes and feelings. Renew my soul so that it is steadfast and strong. Purify my heart pouring into me Your purity and holiness. Align my thoughts with Yours so that the mind of Christ is clearly manifest in me. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me so that I can become the whole person You made me to be.

In the matchless name of Jesus Christ we pray… Amen!

Fervid Friday Devotional “Understanding Our Purpose And Future! “

Life can seem very scary and unsure when we need answers and are at a loss for where to find them! It can lead otherwise Godly and intelligent people to to began to scratch underneath rocks!
God spoke to me yesterday and HE told me “only a heathen would seek answers about themselves and to know me by trying to read the stars! And, then God went on to remind me that HE has carefully given us his children HIS love letter in the form of the Word ( the Holy Bible) to instruct us and each of us learn to recognize HIS Holy Spirit speaking to us.

2 Kings 23:24

Josiah also got rid of the mediums and psychics, the household gods ( charms ) and throughout the land of Judah. He did this in obedience of the laws of written in the scroll that Hilkiah the priest had found in the LORD’s Temple.

Do you believe that recreational occultism is okay? Yes? No?

When you ask someone what is your sign ( meaning sun sign in astrology) you are using the occult in a recreational capacity.Ignorance is not bliss and it is precisely through cracked windows like this that the enemy can use to eventually gain a stronghold on the people of GOD.

This art of astrology is very involved and detailed and is used as a method to predict events yet to come and to gain an advantage in human to human relationships!

Don’t let the devil in your car, otherwise he’ll want to drive!

Have you noticed as I have that about every two to three blocks in any major city now there are signs advertising the services and skills of occult practices. These people offer to give you answers/ solutions to life challenges if you pay them a fee.

The money all by itself is not my main point the point is that GOD has another way and HE is against these type of practices!

The bible tells us it is impossible to please God except by faith. Meaning our faith in HIM our trust in HIM and HIS ways, and precepts.

Wanting to know the answers ahead of time shows a character that desires control and denotes rebellion against GOD.

Sure, I understand it is natural to seek answers but GOD wants us to seek HIM for wisdom and understanding ( because HE is wisdom, and real comprehension).

Lets bring this down to the human level. Do you have children? Would you want them to seek the answers for life important issues from the street? Would you want your son to seek a pimp in order to model manhood? When we go to the occult to seek answers we are seeking darkened backwards street wisdom, from our Holy GOD‘s perspective!

HE ( GOD The Father) is our creator and original parent HE created us in HIS image and likeness and HE deserves our love and respect in every-way!!!!!

2 Kings 23:12-14 New Living Translation

12 Josiah tore down the altars that the kings of Judah had built on the palace roof above the upper room of Ahaz. The king destroyed the altars that Manasseh had built in the two courtyards of the Lord’s Temple. He smashed them to bits[a] and scattered the pieces in the Kidron Valley. 13 The king also desecrated the pagan shrines east of Jerusalem, to the south of the Mount of Corruption, where King Solomon of Israel had built shrines for Ashtoreth, the detestable goddess of the Sidonians; and for Chemosh, the detestable god of the Moabites; and for Molech,[b] the vile god of the Ammonites. 14 He smashed the sacred pillars and cut down the Asherah poles. Then he desecrated these places by scattering human bones over them.

Let’s pray, shall we?!?!

Lord, to the only GOD with all authority and power, help us to not be discouraged when it seems as though we don’t see fruits in our lives. We know you are the source of all fruitfulness. We as your body of believers praise you and invite You to release You life-begetting power in us. I pray You will make every barren area in our lives fruitful and productive. When we start to feel that we may never give birth to anything of significance, we will learn to lift up praises to You, because it is only through You that we are enabled to walk in our purpose displaying Your Royal signature! In the matchless name of Jesus Christ we pray… Amen!!!

Note, if you have indulged in this past time of Astrology on any level it needs to be formally renounced in prayer to GOD almighty if you are a Christian to avoid this weed from producing unholy fruit in the garden of your life. I tell you this because I love you not because I am judging you or wish to control you in anyway. Then trust GOD by not leaning to your own ways and HE will direct your path!!!!

Soaring Into A Life of Holiness

I’m in a bit of a serious place today regarding the higher direction GOD is moving me towards.

I guess sometimes in some part of my brain I want to take little vacations and not be fully responsible for all my choices.

As I read my bible daily I noticed that GOD would question the ancient Israelite’s for any choices that they made that were outside of HIS Will. So since that course of action did not work for  the children of Israel I’m sure that it will not work-out well for me either.

Yes we live in the dispensation of grace and not under the law such as in the Old Testament but sowing and reaping still apply. I see it in action each spring when I plant seeds in our backyard garden! But it also applies to the gardens of our lives:-)

You see I am a dedicated vessel unto The Lord Jesus Christ. I am bought through the price of HIS blood and I can not just do as I will.

HE has a plan and purpose for my life and HIS standards for me are much higher than my own devoid of HIM.

But then if you are a believer in Jesus Christ His standards for you are high as well!

These high standards would scare me silly if I did not understand that it is not by my power that I will ever live up to any of God’s dreams for my life.

Hosea 1:7 (New Living Translation)

7 But I will show love to the people of Judah. I will free them from their enemies—not with weapons and armies or horses and charioteers, but by my power as the Lord their God.”

One of my favorite worship songs is …

Holiness” by Micah Stampley!

It starts off stating.

Holiness, holiness is what I long for. Holiness is what I need!

Pastor Mike of Focal Point Ministries confirmed something that God had already been “dealing” with me on.

As  Christians our concern should not be how close can I get to sin ( without it being a problem)? But instead we should ask, “How far can I get away from sin and live a life of holiness”?

GOD desires a life of “Holiness” for His people. And the bible clearly states this in 1 Peter 2:9

1 Peter 2:9 (New Living Translation)

9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests,[a] a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

Holy means…

1.

specially recognized as or declared sacred by religious use or authority; consecrated: holy ground.
2.

dedicated or devoted to the service of god, the church, or religion: a holy man.
3.

saintly; godly; pious; devout: a holy life.
4.

having a spiritually pure quality: a holy love.
Living a life of holiness is not a burden that GOD imposes upon us but instead it is an impartation of HIS very Spirit!.

It is our sin in many different forms that separates us from GOD!
There are things, people and situations that  may be permissible but they are no longer beneficial!
In order to walk in holiness we learn to desire only that which is beneficial to God’s glory:-)
Perhaps it’s time to go through the closet of  our lives and carefully consider some of  our possessions.
When going through our valuables let us  ask the Holy Spirit how HE feels about such and such or so and so remaining a central fixture in our lives.
For instance in my life I need to really go through the movies on our shelves that have been purchased over the years. Many of them no longer serve me. Perhaps they were entertaining and enjoyable at a different point in my life but now when I sit down to watch many of them I walk away having “grieved” The Holy Spirit that lives on the inside of me.
Sadly most of the things that are promoted through  media these days does NOT glorify GOD in any form.
With this being the case; Why do we as believers in Jesus Christ enjoy these things so much?
Are we loving the world? Or having a form of Godliness and then denying HIS power?
Are we desiring and embracing Christ as a Savior but not honoring HIM as our Lord and Master?
A life of Holiness means a life dedicated to the service of God!
This is not just a calling placed on a Pastor’s life. God has called HIS entire body to be holy!

Leviticus 20:7 (New Living Translation)

7 So set yourselves apart to be holy, for I am the Lord your God.

A life of holiness requires careful attention to all the details that make our world.

It is through God’s love for us and then this love returned to HIM that walking out a life of holiness becomes a  joy and pure pleasure and form of worship to HIM!

We have HIS Spirit to instruct us in all things and this includes lessons on how to live a live of holiness:-)

Let’s look at how powerful having the Holy Spirit is.

Matthew 1:18 (New Living Translation)

The Birth of Jesus the Messiah

18 This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is powerful enough to over-shadow a woman and give her a child without having known a man!

I just know that The Holy Spirit can instruct us and overshadow and clothe us with “Holiness” all we have to do is say yes to HIS Will and yes to HIS Ways. I want a soul that says … YES to GOD in every way!

Here is Micah Stampley’s Holiness I hope you enjoy this song at least half as much as I do!

The Bronze Snake

Greetings!

Today I want to look at and discuss The Bronze Snake in the book of Numbers. The actual chapter and verses are

Numbers 21:4-9

Please read text below so that we are all on the same page and then we can dive into our spiritual food because GOD did not create humankind to live by bread alone but we are to consume each and every Word that comes from the mouth of GOD.

This text is taken from the New Living Translation or NLT abbreviated.

Then the people of Israel set out from Mount Hor, taking the road to the Red Sea to go around the land of Edom. But the people grew impatient with the long journey,5 and they began to speak against God and Moses. “Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die here in the wilderness?” they complained. “There is nothing to eat here and nothing to drink. And we hate this horrible manna!”6 So the Lord sent poisonous snakes among the people, and many were bitten and died.7 Then the people came to Moses and cried out, “We have sinned by speaking against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take away the snakes.” So Moses prayed for the people.8 Then the Lord told him, “Make a replica of a poisonous snake and attach it to a pole. All who are bitten will live if they simply look at it!”9 So Moses made a snake out of bronze and attached it to a pole. Then anyone who was bitten by a snake could look at the bronze snake and be healed!

It was not the bronze snake image on that pole that healed the children of Israel that looked upon it.

Then, just what did this “Bronze Snake” on the staff represent?

In John 3:14-17 Jesus said…

14 And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,15  so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life. 16 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.17

Since Jesus Christ became the personification of Sin on the cross He likened Himself to that old serpent Satan! So all that Satan’s system represented was nailed to that cross. Satan and his authority is what died that day and grace got up, love got up, mercy got up.

Now, in the dispensation of “Grace” we are blessed to experience and see the Father’s heart towards us. Unlike the children of Israel that were living under the dispensation of the “Law”.

The law is a hard task master that is designed show us that we are sinners in need of a Savior.

But at times, I have even had to be hard on my own children in order not to ultimately lose them.

I see GOD the Father this way as it pertains to the children of Israel and even in our own personal lives at times.

The reasons for GOD’s anger with the children of Israel that day was because they spoke out in evil against GOD Himself and Moses and had once again failed to follow HIS commandments that they had promised to at least try to keep. Even though we can not keep the law perfectly GOD knows if our hearts are towards and for Him. You see,  the children if Israel hearts were still captivated with Egypt and all of her strange fruit!

When we break the first commandment …

We have really broken all the others! Because none of the others can be properly walked out without proper reverence for GOD. It’s like a mathematical equation that is always not quite adding up but in our own personal reasoning we try to make it right. 2+2=4 not 5, 6 or 7. The people were ungrateful for GOD’S provisions for them and over and over longed a ached to return to Egypt!

Have you ever needed to be truly free from something or some relationship but found yourself drawn to this life sucking vampire much to your utter confusion and dismay?

Sometimes in life when our thinking is not in alignment with life the pleasure we seek is wrapped up in our pain.

Of course GOD understood that they were sin sick needed to be totally re-educated or renewed in their thinking because they had been slaves for a very long time. They had been in a “bowed” position to Pharaoh ( the King) of Egypt for centuries. They had come to see the Egyptians as their masters or the gods in their lives.

I have learned in my own life that whatever you bow down to will master you.

This is why we have to learn to stand up to the giants in our lives; ultimately! Because GOD does not wish that we bow down to and worship anything or anyone or any principality but HIM! As a matter of fact worshiping other GOD makes HIM down right unhappy with us.

You see I think that  the children of Israel wanted their liberties from the Egyptians and they were more than willing to allow GOD to fight for them to “spring” them from their Egyptian jailers but once they had their liberty they  wanted to be free to live on their own terms much as the Egyptians had modeled life and living to them for centuries.

But GOD... had other plans in HIS mind for HIS people that HE had longed to live among since the fall in the Garden of Eden. HE came back for them (to deliver them from Egypt) because of the promise that HE had made to Abraham.

With each of the 10 plague GOD used to deliver the children of Israel from  Egypt there were  lessons to be learned by the Israelite s of the GOD of their forefathers (Abraham, Issac and Jacob). Personally I think that they failed to fully understand this fact because GOD could have delivered them from Pharaoh with just one plague but instead GOD chose the longer way around because they had many things to learn of HIM.

So just who and what healed those snake bitten children of Israel in the desert long ago?

Jesus said ” If you love me then you will keep my commandments”. The ones that were healed were obedient to God’s instructions as HE had given them to Moses to share with the children of Israel.

Even though the children of Israel did not know the meaning or the person of Jesus Christ  nor did they understand the fullness of what the  bronze serpent lifted up on a pole meant. But they; the ones that were healed that day believed in and obeyed their GOD and received deliverance from death and a type of salvation!

The process of sanctification for each of us is a step by step process so hold on to GOD’s unchanging and all powerful and wise Hands through your wilderness experiences in this life.

Today I want to thank GOD for His bountiful love, grace and mercy towards myself and all HIS people!!

The Deity of Jesus Christ- The Life and The Light

My Beloved Heavenly Father,

To know you is to be enlivened! To know your love personally is to be satisfied and secure of our ultimate worth. My prayer in this lesson is for all to come to a sense of getting to know you or knowing You on a deeper level. You are not a GOD of do’s and don’ts and of rules but instead You are divine goodness, holiness and love! My prayer is that we may experience You and walk beyond the veil of religion that has obscured Your glory and wonder in the hearts and minds of humankind. You are a whole that is meant to be experienced in our hearts, minds, souls and spirits!

Allow Your character and personage to emerge so that we may worship you in spirit and in truth!

I love you!  We pray all of these things in the precious name of your Son Jesus

Amen

Prayer  because… I love talking to GOD, to show HIM honor because HE is the summation of all my reasons and because it is actually HIS Holy Spirit whom teaches, directs and guides me during these lesson and simply because the bible tells us to pray without ceasing.

 No prayer= No power.

Let’s check three different bible translations for our introductory lesson on the first two verses of the Gospel of John

John 1:1-2 (MSG)

1 The Word was first, the Word present to God, God present to the Word. The Word was God, 2 in readiness for God from day one.

John 1:1-2 (NKJV)

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God.

John 1:1-3 (NLT)

1 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He existed in the beginning with God. 3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.

The translation that brings the true meaning of these verses to life for me is The New Living Translation or NLT.

My Thoughts:

Before anything was created there was GOD and there was His Word. All that is created came through GOD’s Word, which is Jesus Christ. The Lamb of GOD!! HE was “slain” for our sins before the foundation of the “world”. GOD as we spoke of is not encapsulated by time, we are because of Sin. This was GOD’s way of ensuring that Sin could not go on into eternity forever and ever!  Knowing that GOD knew all of this would happen and already had a plan before HE even began the creation process gives me great comfort because I know without a doubt that HE is in control and that I do not have to worry but Pray so that I am constantly in communication with Him.

In Genesis we saw GOD speaking everything unseen into existence. However in parallel the book of John shows us GOD speaking “salvation” into existence. GOD’s Word will take on a human form and dwell among us. Emmanuel means God with us! Jesus speaks forgiveness, freedom and resurrection. With this we see things that were diseased or in a fallen and sinful state called to GOD’s Kingdom to repent, be baptized and forgiven of your sins.

Our words have power! We can begin the process of over-coming a trial just by stating ” I believe”! Our words affect our emotional states and how we see ourselves and the world around us.

Take-Away Points:

  • The Word

The Bible gives many titles or names to Jesus. When He is called “the Word,” we are reminded of His role in the Godhead from the dateless past and beginning. Human speech has the capacity to unveil thoughts, feelings, and emotions; to show the person behind the words. Jesus is God expressing Himself through Jesus.

  • Grace

“Grace” reveals both God and man. It shows human beings as helpless, trapped in sin. And it shows God willing and able to meet our deepest needs.

  • Importance of Relationship

John was one of the disciples closest to Jesus. He saw everything Jesus did and heard everything Jesus said. John wrote his Gospel to present eyewitness evidence of Jesus’ deity so that we may believe and have eternal life. If you are unsure of your faith or of the claims of Christ, this Gospel will give you the evidence you need to decide for Christ. If you are already a believer, this study will boost your confidence.

Jesus who expresses the invisible God was Himself the Creator of all things, and has priority over all.

Reflect on in your life

  • 1 What gives you confidence in someone?
  • 2 What makes you lose confidence in someone?
  • 3 What evidence do people need to convince them that Jesus is God’s Son?
  • 4 What evidence for Jesus’ deity could you present to someone if asked?
  • 5 List some questions about God, Jesus, the Bible, or the Christian faith that you always wanted to ask but didn’t know whom to ask.
  • 6 How might this study of John help answer those questions?
  •

Reading Assignment for next lesson:

John 1:1-18(MSG)

1 The Word was first, the Word present to God, God present to the Word. The Word was God, 2 in readiness for God from day one. 3 Everything was created through him; nothing—not one thing!— came into being without him. 4 What came into existence was Life, and the Life was Light to live by. 5 The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness; the darkness couldn’t put it out. 6 There once was a man, his name John, sent by God 7 to point out the way to the Life-Light. He came to show everyone where to look, who to believe in. 8 John was not himself the Light; he was there to show the way to the Light. 9 The Life-Light was the real thing: Every person entering Life he brings into Light. 10 He was in the world, the world was there through him, and yet the world didn’t even notice. 11 He came to his own people, but they didn’t want him. 12 But whoever did want him, who believed he was who he claimed and would do what he said, He made to be their true selves, their child-of-God selves. 13 These are the God-begotten, not blood-begotten, not flesh-begotten, not sex-begotten. 14 The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish. 15 John pointed him out and called, “This is the One! The One I told you was coming after me but in fact was ahead of me. He has always been ahead of me, has always had the first word.” 16 We all live off his generous bounty, gift after gift after gift. 17 We got the basics from Moses, and then this exuberant giving and receiving, This endless knowing and understanding— all this came through Jesus, the Messiah. 18 No one has ever seen God, not so much as a glimpse. This one-of-a-kind God-Expression, who exists at the very heart of the Father, has made him plain as day.
