Me Myself and Lies Week 3 Introduction

Sure we all have certain preferences as far as physical clothing. But…. our inner issues can often clothe us as well.

What kind of clothing do your issues voice?

What would it take to have a change of perception about those issues?

What are some of the common concerns or fears people have regarding dealing with a long-standing issue?

The longer we deal with a condition the greater the impact and in many cases it affects more than one area of life.

In Mark 5:25-34 we find a woman with an issue of bleeding.

Before you read the text I want you to ask yourself these questions.

1. How might this woman’s issue of bleeding for 12 years have affected her social life?

2. How might this woman’s issue of bleeding for 12 years affected her own sense of self-worth?

3.Do you imagine that this woman felt strong physically and how might her on going lack of physical vitality effected her ability to carry on day-to-day work activities?

4. What kind of strain do you think her long-term ongoing issues of blood might have had on her marriage?

5. Last but not least when joy is low in our lives it absolutely affects our attitude and perceptions towards GOD.

No, maybe not to the extent of not loving GOD or worshiping HIM but prolonged suffering can distort our perceptions we can clearly see this displayed in the book of Job.

Now for the great news… Jesus does heal this woman…..

Mark 5:25-34 NLT

25 A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding.
26 She had suffered a great deal from many doctors, and over the years she had spent everything she had to pay them, but she had gotten no better. In fact, she had gotten worse.
27 She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his robe.
28 For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.”
29 Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition.
30 Jesus realized at once that healing power had gone out from him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my robe?”
31 His disciples said to him, “Look at this crowd pressing around you. How can you ask, ‘Who touched me?’”
32 But he kept on looking around to see who had done it.
33 Then the frightened woman, trembling at the realization of what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and told him what she had done.
34 And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over.”

  • Why do you think the bleeding woman was afraid to admit she was the one who had touched Jesus?

Let me take a stab at this question.

She considered ( thought and felt) herself of low status and rank due to her condition she was considered “unclean” by the social and spiritual standards of her day.

The traditions of men make void the Word of GOD!!!

When one lives in fear for so long and has been show very little kindness it is often easy to assume the worse. After all she devised this plan all on her own and had not spoken with Jesus. Perhaps she felt she was taking something from HIM that HE would not have given had she asked directly. But what we must realize is that nothing but love held Jesus to the cross and nothing but HIS love for us causes HIM to bestow us with a healing. Our faith does not have to be perfectly mature but a perfect seed. Within each seed GOD has placed the DNA for life to spring forth, under the right conditions!!

I’m sure this woman with the issue of blood had heard many wonderful things about Jesus and in her heart she had reached out to HIM spiritually before HE ever reached her geographical space physically.  Clearly within her heart GOD kept a space for her to properly receive HIS Son.

Had she been bitter instead of hopeful and then thankful she would have been in the presence of Jesus physically and missed out on a blessing that would change her life!

In what ways have you been thinking with your feelings and according the traditions of men?

Our feelings were designed by GOD to serve us and not meant for us to become their slave!

Let’s ask the Holy Spirit to give us deeper insight into how to have our feelings serve instead of enslave us.

Once you have prayed and inquired of The Holy Spirit share your insights with me right here on this blog:-)

I’d love to bask in the wisdom HE shares with you!!

Our lives by GOD’s design are to be bathed in HIS wisdom ( HIS thoughts, HIS Words and HIS perceptions) and not saturated sense of fragmentation.
