Reasons Why My Heart Sings 27 -Prayer Is The Best Armor

Psalm 12:2

New Living Translation (NLT)

Neighbors lie to each other,
speaking with flattering lips and deceitful hearts.

Has God ever met blessed you and then the greatest trail in your life as a believer came down the pike?

Back in February 2012 this is exactly what happened to me!!!!

In 2011 many of you signed up to receive my blog post as I had began a weekly log of posting reasons I am thankful and these post were dedicated to GOD!

At that point although I had my challenges I was moving along in a very comfortable and familiar place with GOD.

Not that I ever thought I could predict HIM and the way HE would choose to further my dependence upon HIM and HIM alone; but I must admit what HE next permitted to take place in my life was not something that I could have ever imagined or braced myself for.

I stopped posting under “Reasons Why My Heart Sings” for more than 8 months because I was coming out of trauma and although deeply thankful my heart was not singing ( it was crying).

This trial that Our Lord permitted shook me deeply and I briefly wondered about my very sanity as Satan challenged my perception of the limits of  my salvation! But then God helped me to began to experience HIS deep sense of grace and mercy thus I feel in the deep sea of HIS love all over again, but HIS love felt even vaster and HIS life giving water sweeter and wetter to my dehydrated  soul because it was HIM and HIM alone that breathed life back into me and I know it.

All GOD said to me just before the testing began is that my identity was about to be challenged!!!

I feel that the word challenged was a bit of an understatement but in the end it is not what I feel that matters as much as HIS truth.

Which brings me to this weeks topic…… Prayer!

I have done more praying since April of 2012 than I have in my whole life as a born again Christian.

God has has taught me more about the process of prayer this year than I could imagine.

First I want to say that prayer to GOD should be based in love and on that which is true, good and of lovely report:-)

Prayer at first glance seems such an easy and uncomplicated means of communication. And at it’s core it is simple and beautiful in its original design!

The power of prayer is truly a gift from GOD, but like all gifts we must be deeply aware of the instrument we have at our disposal.

When we pray are we responsible with this power that we are wielding?

Are we yielding our hearts to GOD and allowing HIM to direct and guide our prayers?

There are many type of prayers that we can pray.

Not that GOD is unintelligent and knows not what to do with our prayers just the way we pray them but for the sake of spiritual growth please take a stroll down this lane with me.

When in conversation with another human being  do we not let that person know when we just need someone to talk in order to bounce ideas off or to vent some of our frustrations?

Have you ever vented your frustrations and formed them into prayers to GOD about other people?

It is okay to vent to GOD but it is not okay to pray against other people.

Prayer is a sacred form of communication between us and a Holy GOD!

We are made in HIS image and likeness but one major difference between us and HIM is  that HE has never had a relationship with sin and you and I are recovering from ( being sanctified) step by step on a daily basis from the effects sin has had on us. This means that our perceptions can misfires on occasions about people, places and situations.

We should always take the high road, not just on how we speak to people face to face but even in prayer.

When tough words of truth need to be spoken to another they should be done so under the direction of the Holy Spirit and submerged in HIS love!

Here are some other points that are helpful in all communication; even in prayer our conversation should glorify GOD first and foremost, then we should esteem others above ourselves, thirdly lets ask GOD to forgive us of our sins ( because even when we miss them they are present) fourthly we need to ask GOD to give us HIS supernatural ability to love others so that we can forgive them when they hurt us (either on purpose or by mistake). We all have weaknesses and lets remember to ask GOD to keep those from being exploited by those that do not love HIM or us. Lets be big boys and girls and take our medicine from GOD when necessary ( meaning being rebuked ) as a point of great honor because only true sons and daughters are disciplined by their loving Heavenly Father! Lastly, learning to pray that the Will of The Father be done in our lives keeps us from yielding unto the spirit of witchcraft and trying to  use prayer as a means of forcing our will upon others!

Lord, I am thankful that you have created a hotline from earth to Heaven in which your people can speak with you. Where we would be without this method of communication with you I do not wish to know. Lord, you are not interested in hearing us slander each other verbally and disguising it as communication with you! Deliver us from using prayer as a means of evil speaking!!!! In Jesus name we pray AMEN.

Spangled Sunday Devotional -Pit or Faith Eyesight

1 John 4:1

Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.

Pit or Faith Eyesight

If you must be desperate for something have deep expectation for a move of GOD! In the human experience there will surely come a time in which our endurance and strength will tried beyond what we can bear alone!

Many of us have places in our lives at this very moment where our hope has or is threatening to fade into a dark abyss of despair. Waiting, and waiting and waiting on a break-through can try our soul until we see only ‘dry bones’. When we place our hope in GOD( not just in seeing our circumstances change) we are operating by seeing our circumstances through the eyes of Christ, Jesus as it is by HIS blood that we receive this regenerated spiritual eye sight and are able to abide in hope, faith and love ( no matter our circumstances).

GOD is grace and mercy so by abiding within HIM we can live in the lap blessings, beauty and thanksgiving!

Dismiss, rebuke and turn away from any other account/ news report as vain babbling and a voice not to be relied upon or trusted, if it does not align itself in Word and Spirit with God almighty 🙂

And as far as those circumstances are concerned it’s not over until God says that it’s over.

Ezekiel 37:1-6

1 The Lord took hold of me, and I was carried away by the Spirit of the Lord to a valley filled with bones.
2 He led me all around among the bones that covered the valley floor. They were scattered everywhere across the ground and were completely dried out.
3 Then he asked me, “Son of man, can these bones become living people again?” “O Sovereign Lord,” I replied, “you alone know the answer to that.”
4 Then he said to me, “Speak a prophetic message to these bones and say, ‘Dry bones, listen to the word of the Lord!
5 This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Look! I am going to put breath into you and make you live again!
6 I will put flesh and muscles on you and cover you with skin. I will put breath into you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”

The Cross Invites and Rebukes

Any good parent invites their child/children into their hearts unconditionally loving them but there are times that a child’s behavior can cause a parent to have to correct and rebuke an action taken.

God The Father being the best parent ever invites and rebukes with HIS work through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ!

Archbishop Desmond Tutu stated…. ” I can’t for the life of me imagine that God will say. ” I will punish you because you are black, you should have been white. I will punish you because you are a woman, you should have been a man. I will punish you because you are a homosexual, you out to have been heterosexual. I can’t for the life of me believe that is how God sees things.

I agree with two out of three of what this Archbishop stated on the image to your left.

Allow me to explain. The first two examples are not identity issues but facts of God’s creation, coming up against carnal thinking. The third, is a result of an identity crisis. I will acknowledge that identity issue ( such as in the case of homosexual expression) are serious and are often not simply understood. In many cases of a sexual identity crisis such an individual has been sexually or, deeply emotionally abused or having been socially outcast to such a degree that one finds it difficult to fit in comfortably and if another group accepts them freely then a poor substitute for God’s best for them is often the result. The point being is that everywhere I look I see God’s people dealing with issues that seem insurmountable to them and then make decisions as to how to handle the problem according to their own understanding. God tells us in the bible according to…

Proverbs 3:-6

5-12 Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
he’s the one who will keep you on track.
Don’t assume that you know it all.
Run to God! Run from evil!
Your body will glow with health,
your very bones will vibrate with life!
Honor God with everything you own;
give him the first and the best.
Your barns will burst,
your wine vats will brim over.
But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline;
don’t sulk under his loving correction.
It’s the child he loves that God corrects;
a father’s delight is behind all this.

All of our problems the ones that are sin related can be over come ( placed in subjection) when we give God first place in our hearts and lives! Our sexuality is not the be all end all and should never be allowed to sit in the drivers seat of our lives. We are created in God’s image and likeness and the grey matter up stair under the direction of the Holy Spirit brings true freedom and the ability to enjoy what God has given in the manner that is pleasing to Him.

At the end of our lives it is GOD alone that we will have to answer to not our bed partners or even religious leaders, but GOD almighty alone so it is only HIS ultimate thought on all of life’s concerns that should keep and demand our attention!

Fruit -Tasting and Matching Signatures -Fervid Friday Devotional

I love fruit each has its very own signature, aroma and taste 🙂

Fruit by its very nature is cleansing from a natural perspective and loaded with natural sweetness and to boot bursting with vitamins and minerals!

John 6-10 Message Bible

Jesus told this simple story, but they had no idea what he was talking about. So he tried again. “I’ll be explicit, then. I am the Gate for the sheep. All those others are up to no good—sheep stealers, every one of them. But the sheep didn’t listen to them. I am the Gate. Anyone who goes through me will be cared for—will freely go in and out, and find pasture. A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.

Will you join me for a fruit tasting of the truth today?

Jesus Christ once said “I am the way the truth and the life and NO man can come to The Father except by me!”

These are powerful words spoken with great authority and no grey area!

The Perfect Man….

Was a high ideal in Greek culture. Written with Greeks in mind, Luke’s Gospel shows how Jesus Christ was the perfect man given as the perfect sacrifice for the sin of all people. Christ is the ideal human-the perfect model for us to follow. We must stand in awe of his character, which met humanity’s highest ideals as well as God‘s demand for an atonement for sin. He is, at once and the same time, our model and our Savior.- Life Application Study Bible

Back in the early 90’s my existence was at the apex of my living life on my own terms and I remember God sending a man into my sphere of influence that shared a bit of truth with me.

He simply stated to me either Jesus Christ is exactly who HE says the HE is “The only begotten Son of the Living GOD” or HE is not telling the truth at all! There is no middle ground, Jesus plays for keeps and HIS mission deals with life and death.

Perhaps, this is why Jesus does not like our lukewarm decorations of love and devotion, because there is nothing lukewarm about HIS going to the Cross for our sins.

When a person is hot or cold (either totally believing in him or not at all) Jesus can make dynamic things happen within both those context.

Roughly in the year 1999 or 2000 before I rededicated my life to Jesus Christ I remember seeing a portion of a movie on him and I had to admit even in my back slidden state at that very moment in time that Jesus Christ was the perfect embodiment of love and grace.

Even none Christians have a difficult time finding fault with our Savior’s character! That speaks volumes!!!

Jesus taught and still teaches the world much.

So much of the modern day “self improvement” movement are really biblical principles taken out of scripture format and used to serve more general life purposes.

Even the new age movement uses some of the teachings of Jesus Christ, such as Emmet Fox book “Sermon on The Mount” and there are many others!

We as believers know HIM as LORD and Savior and not just a master teacher with much wisdom.

In a world of lying spirits it seems when looking for the truth go to one whose character stands the test of time across multi cultural and religious doctrines.

The bible clearly tells us there will come an age in which people will not wish to endure sound doctrine.

Our final place of rest cannot be found in self-improvement pep talks and enlightenment affirmations/ statements and spiritual hype, propaganda and what is convenient and easy for us to follow.

Truth has a definite signature and if we are honest with ourselves we can all admit to character flaws but I know a man who had none… Jesus Christ and I have chosen to become HIS disciple and learn from HIS Holy Spirit and follow HIM now into eternity!

What about you?

Romans 14-16 Message Bible

Personally, I’ve been completely satisfied with who you are and what you are doing. You seem to me to be well-motivated and well-instructed, quite capable of guiding and advising one another. So, my dear friends, don’t take my rather bold and blunt language as criticism. It’s not criticism. I’m simply underlining how very much I need your help in carrying out this highly focused assignment God gave me, this priestly and gospel work of serving the spiritual needs of the non-Jewish outsiders so they can be presented as an acceptable offering to God, made whole and holy by God’s Holy Spirit.

Let’s Pray… Shall we?

Father God in heaven… In the name of your only begotten Son Jesus Christ, I want a relationship with the truth so I submit all my soul, my body and my desires, and my emotions to You and Your Spirit.  I denounce any conscious or subconscious attachments from in my past: past involvements, past emotional attachments and past premarital sexual relationships, I denounce the emotional, physical and spiritual ties formed by these involvements. I confess any ungodly spirit, soul and body ties as sin. I thank you for forgiving me an cleansing me of all unrighteousness, right now.

Release me from all soulish ties in the mighty name of Jesus Christ we pray.. Amen!

Me Myself and Lies Week 3 Introduction

Sure we all have certain preferences as far as physical clothing. But…. our inner issues can often clothe us as well.

What kind of clothing do your issues voice?

What would it take to have a change of perception about those issues?

What are some of the common concerns or fears people have regarding dealing with a long-standing issue?

The longer we deal with a condition the greater the impact and in many cases it affects more than one area of life.

In Mark 5:25-34 we find a woman with an issue of bleeding.

Before you read the text I want you to ask yourself these questions.

1. How might this woman’s issue of bleeding for 12 years have affected her social life?

2. How might this woman’s issue of bleeding for 12 years affected her own sense of self-worth?

3.Do you imagine that this woman felt strong physically and how might her on going lack of physical vitality effected her ability to carry on day-to-day work activities?

4. What kind of strain do you think her long-term ongoing issues of blood might have had on her marriage?

5. Last but not least when joy is low in our lives it absolutely affects our attitude and perceptions towards GOD.

No, maybe not to the extent of not loving GOD or worshiping HIM but prolonged suffering can distort our perceptions we can clearly see this displayed in the book of Job.

Now for the great news… Jesus does heal this woman…..

Mark 5:25-34 NLT

25 A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding.
26 She had suffered a great deal from many doctors, and over the years she had spent everything she had to pay them, but she had gotten no better. In fact, she had gotten worse.
27 She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his robe.
28 For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.”
29 Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition.
30 Jesus realized at once that healing power had gone out from him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my robe?”
31 His disciples said to him, “Look at this crowd pressing around you. How can you ask, ‘Who touched me?’”
32 But he kept on looking around to see who had done it.
33 Then the frightened woman, trembling at the realization of what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and told him what she had done.
34 And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over.”

  • Why do you think the bleeding woman was afraid to admit she was the one who had touched Jesus?

Let me take a stab at this question.

She considered ( thought and felt) herself of low status and rank due to her condition she was considered “unclean” by the social and spiritual standards of her day.

The traditions of men make void the Word of GOD!!!

When one lives in fear for so long and has been show very little kindness it is often easy to assume the worse. After all she devised this plan all on her own and had not spoken with Jesus. Perhaps she felt she was taking something from HIM that HE would not have given had she asked directly. But what we must realize is that nothing but love held Jesus to the cross and nothing but HIS love for us causes HIM to bestow us with a healing. Our faith does not have to be perfectly mature but a perfect seed. Within each seed GOD has placed the DNA for life to spring forth, under the right conditions!!

I’m sure this woman with the issue of blood had heard many wonderful things about Jesus and in her heart she had reached out to HIM spiritually before HE ever reached her geographical space physically.  Clearly within her heart GOD kept a space for her to properly receive HIS Son.

Had she been bitter instead of hopeful and then thankful she would have been in the presence of Jesus physically and missed out on a blessing that would change her life!

In what ways have you been thinking with your feelings and according the traditions of men?

Our feelings were designed by GOD to serve us and not meant for us to become their slave!

Let’s ask the Holy Spirit to give us deeper insight into how to have our feelings serve instead of enslave us.

Once you have prayed and inquired of The Holy Spirit share your insights with me right here on this blog:-)

I’d love to bask in the wisdom HE shares with you!!

Our lives by GOD’s design are to be bathed in HIS wisdom ( HIS thoughts, HIS Words and HIS perceptions) and not saturated sense of fragmentation.

Christ Glorified In The Mist of Trials

Yesterday I sent out a duplicate from last weeks post. Please forgive that little oversight and accept this post as it’s replacement!

Galatians 5:22 (NLT) But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

I have a heritage in our Lord Jesus Christ that is undefiled, immaculate and incorruptible and so do you if you believe upon Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior!

Christ is rich treasure-house of all that is necessary for the abundant life mind, body and spirit.

We often want to wait on our outward circumstances to change before we taste of HIS richness but the truth is the sweetness of Christ can be sampled no matter what state you’re in.

His Spirit liberates and sets free and there is not circumstance that can block this flow from heaven but we must choose to connect to it.

Are you one that loves your freedom?

If so, I understand because so do I.

But there are times in our lives when our ability to come and go just as we might please may be a bit dampened but that does not mean we have lost our liberty in Christ Jesus.

It is always nice to have a measure of both freedom and liberty but sometimes we are called upon in our lives to glorify Jesus even when we are in the flames of affliction.

Job demonstrates a penetrating example of that.

1-3 Job was a man who lived in Uz. He was honest inside and out, a man of his word, who was totally devoted to God and hated evil with a passion. He had seven sons and three daughters. He was also very wealthy—seven thousand head of sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred teams of oxen, five hundred donkeys, and a huge staff of servants—the most influential man in all the East!

Even though Job has his moments of loosing his personal poise he never looses his the Gospel and he is able to praise and up lift GOD in a very unique way in while in the pangs of deep affliction.

Confusion about the how and why of GOD and HIS divine movement in our lives is not the same as turning our hearts away from GOD and the enemy cannot no matter how much he boast take anything away from you that God has given but we can walk away from and give up what GOD has given us to birth by walking away from it and ceasing to nurture and feed it the proper food.

Our identity is Jesus Christ is not rooted within our ability to not sin but instead it flows from the one whom became the appropriation of our sins.

Life changing water into wine, Christ ( The Anointed One) has the ability to transform our broken sin sick  state into one of wholeness and righteousness.

I given up on identifying with Jennifer because this represents the flesh and all the needed Jesus Christ to become her Lord and Savior.

The more I identify with Jennifer ( especially during times of trial )  the less liberty I have and the more I long for or seek fleshy freedom ( the ability to please myself) through my daily activities.

I would rather the Holy Spirit be please than I because then I know that what I have spent my time and energy on will reap dividends beyond the cares of this world.

I understand that all of this is a process for each believer and I am not stating that you are anyone else is sinning if this is not your current residence in your walk with Jesus Christ.

But it is only through the Holy Spirit can we walk in “The Fruits of The Spirit“.

We can begin to awaken these fruits even within a more personal context but they will not fully blossom until they are fully given over unto your new identity in Christ Jesus.

Until then we experience being in and out of    love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness within and with our fellow man.

GOD is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and faithfulness but for HIM to be those things HE has to take a strong stance against that which is not these things.

That is why is the Cross is necessary to restore people to GOD so that we are able to glorify the sacred ( Jesus Christ ) and celebrate HIM in our daily lives once again.

Proverbs 15:6

The house of the righteous contains great treasure, but the income of the wicked brings them trouble.

Thought For Today -What’s Happened To The Me I Once Knew?

What’s Happened To Me I Once Knew?

The diet ( or lifestyle) that I followed in my twenties and even thirties somewhere along the lines stopped working for me.

When , where and how did that all happen?

My needs  changed/ mutated as I have matured and aged.

I have always been a flexible person.

And I define being flexible as…

Having the ability to realize and accept once something or someone in my life begins speaking the prophetic message… ‘move on’ it’s time to redefine yourself.

I confess,  that I have spent so much of my life starting over from the way I think to the way that I eat.

So much of my life has been spent in transformation that I feel as if  I have majored in ”  How To Rise From The Ashes“!

But, this frustrating and sometimes painful reality of never-ending change and renewal  has produced one decisive strength and advantage.

My faith in the one who never changes  Jesus Christ!

HE’s the secret weapon that you never what to be without in the mist of a battle Especially the most important battle of all the one fought for your very soul identity!

Jesus being my anchor is the one and only fact that qualifies me to speak and model truth!

HE has been my anchor in an ever-changing inner terrain and in an outer world that has known very little order!

When I look at my life today, the landscape looks nothing like it did 10 or even 5 years ago.

I no longer recognize myself  by my familiar thoughts, habits, friends, physical form or even by the possessions under my stewardship but I do recognize my true identity… the image and likeness of Christ!
