Meditation Monday Devotional -If There Be Any Thorns

2 Samuel 24: 21-24

21 “Why have you come, my lord the king?” Araunah asked. David replied, “I have come to buy your threshing floor and to build an altar to the Lord there, so that he will stop the plague.”
22 “Take it, my lord the king,

and use it as you wish,” Araunah said to David. “Here are oxen for the burnt offering, and you can use the threshing boards and ox yokes for wood to build a fire on the altar.
23 I will give it all to you, Your Majesty, and may the Lord your God accept your sacrifice.”
24 But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on buying it, for I will not present burnt offerings to the Lord my God that have cost me nothing.” So David paid him fifty pieces of silver for the threshing floor and the oxen.Love and Sacrifice…..

Very often go hand in hand like rights and responsibilities!

You just can not enjoy one without accepting the other!

My husband bought me some multicolored roses yesterday and today as I was trimming back the leaves so that they would have more space between each flower and cutting the dead ends off so that the steams can adsorb more of the water and nutrients that they are placed in I noticed the thorns on each rose.

And GOD clearly pointed out to me the beauty of each rose is enough and the fact that there are thorns on each rose steam does not keep us from celebrating the beauty of the rose and the communication of love placed on the giving and receiving in this common exchange.

When we love we’re willing to roll up our sleeves do our part and even sacrifice if necessary. I have heard many shy away from GOD because they are afraid that at some point their relationship with HIM may call upon them to stand by HIM in good times in times of trial and persecution.

What I want most to share with all of you is that there is a beauty, joy and sense of worth connected with loving GOD ( the rose part of the relationship) that makes the trials ( thorns) not able to measure up to the gift loved shared between you and GOD.

Never run away from love because you are afraid of being stuck by thorns!

Hebrews 9:8-15

8 By these regulations the Holy Spirit revealed that the entrance to the Most Holy Place was not freely open as long as the Tabernacle and the system it represented were still in use.
9 This is an illustration pointing to the present time. For the gifts and sacrifices that the priests offer are not able to cleanse the consciences of the people who bring them.
10 For that old system deals only with food and drink and various cleansing ceremonies—physical regulations that were in effect only until a better system could be established.

Christ Is the Perfect Sacrifice

11 So Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by human hands and is not part of this created world.
12 With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever.
13 Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow could cleanse people’s bodies from ceremonial impurity.
14 Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.
15 That is why he is the one who mediates a new covenant between God and people, so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them. For Christ died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first covenant.

Treasured Thursday Devotional- It’s The Simple Moments That Knit Us Together As A Family

We have this moment to hold in our hand, and to touch as it slips through our fingers like sand. Yesterday’s gone and tomorrow may never come, but we have this moment today~ Gloria Gaither

Does the mention of the P 31 woman make you shake in your boots, wondering if you can ever measure up to those high standards?

Proverbs 31:27-28

New Living Translation (NLT)

27 She carefully watches everything in her household
and suffers nothing from laziness.

28 Her children stand and bless her.
Her husband praises her:

Those two little verses say so much! They speak volumes in terms of all we would like to give to our families. And for those of us women that have been called into ministry we take this mandate even more to heart, trying to balance it all effectively and with some finesse.

In my case lately I have been under a very taxing trial and this has added baggage on to my already carefully sectioned task plate.

But the one point I return to over and over is the fact that GOD is in charge so it’s up to HIM to make sure it all works out for my good and the fact that I understand that I am not called to manage task ultra effectively but instead I’m asked by GOD to be mindful and intentional in everything HE allows me to touch.

The Savior once reminded me of the fact that there is nothing, no task or deadline that is more important than my attitude.

With this fact carefully kept in focus I am able to bring a standard to each task that I attend and everyday moments with my family can be made into celebration/ focal points of seeking the Divine and Sacred ( Jesus Christ) more clearly!

Application Point of  Focus: The natural enemies to sacred moments being clearly defined, experienced, perceived and celebrated is to be intensely focused on self, rushed and wallowing in the spirit of impatience.  These are the areas in which asking for God‘s direct intervention in the form of revelation will open up new avenues of growth so that the energy that is being used in the frustration cycle can be released to live more richly and fully in the moment.

Power Verse: Psalm 90:14

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all of our days.

Let’s Pray, shall we?

Dear God, I pray You would cleanse my heart of all that is not of You. Pour out Your Spirit afresh in my life and wash away all negative attitudes and feelings. Renew my soul so that it is steadfast and strong. Purify my heart pouring into me Your purity and holiness. Align my thoughts with Yours so that the mind of Christ is clearly manifest in me. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me so that I can become the whole person You made me to be.

In the matchless name of Jesus Christ we pray… Amen!

The Spiritual Emergency Room- Worship Wednesday Devotional

James 5:14 (NLT)

Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord.

There comes a time in everybody’s life in which we come face to face with the fact that “if we had to pay for our spiritual health-care plan we would not be able to afford it!”

Why?

Because none of us has anything worth enough value to afford the Gifts of God.

Which brings me to why we are in need of Spiritual Health Care!

As I reflect on this matter ( The Holy Spirit is allowing me to see) clearly that often, when we teach and preach the Word of God we speak of sin from the perspective of those willfully sinning. That is, being enticed or tempted by situations, or people of a nun productive and destructive nature. But the key here is the person’s own ungodly desires getting the best of them.

However, we also deal with the presence of sin.

There are cases in which we are minding our own business “In The Lord”, looking and seeking only to glorify HIM and we find ourselves dealing with presence of sin in someone else either by physical, emotional or spiritual modalities.

In this case, I’m speaking of believer, firmly on his or her own spiritual path with our Lord could then find ourselves the victim of  an evil plot to come against our platform in which to minister.

In these type cases, the ministering person can quickly find themselves needing a Spiritual Transfusion, by means of a mad dash to go to God’s Spiritual Emergency Room!

In the SER ( Spiritual Emergency Room) we must first confess our sins known and unknown then medication is administered directly into our spiritual bodies through intercessory prayer, because in many cases sometimes we may be too weak to pray effectively for ourselves.

God sees intercessory prayer as one of the highest forms of prayer, because it is done in the spirit of Agape love and with sacrifice.

Intercessory prayer teeming with love acts as “milk” and is fastest and most easily assimilated.

So, the milk of the Word is… God’s unearned unconditional love!

Nothing or no-one can heal without HIS ( Jesus Christ) love.

This reminds us that the “gift” of Salvation is free because it is steeped in God’s heart filled love. It is this heart that devised the plan and method by which all men, women and children would be saved!!!!!!!!!!!

Why would sophisticated spiritual heavy weights need to hear these basic doctrinal things at least quarterly?

To continue to grow we need to move deeper into the ripeness and richness of God’s fruit of love.

That means first we need to take more of HIS love into our own souls ( not necessarily more advanced doctrinal information) then we will be in a position to better do whatever God has called us to do, with whatever our skill level happens to be on the behalf of others.

If you think I’m over playing this remember people do not care how much you know until they know how much you care:-)

Luke 4:39 (NLT) Standing at her bedside, he rebuked the fever, and it left her. And she got up at once and prepared a meal for them.

Reasons Why My Heart Sings-23

Each evening I read my sons’ a bible story.

Honestly, I think I enjoy them more than the kids!!!

God never fails to minister to that little girl in me as I read the stories for my sons’ spiritual growth:-)

Spending time with our children is precious indeed!

Living love ( Jesus Christ ) in a way to imprints itself upon the heart as treasured memories to be counted as more valuable than gold!

As a child I remember a neighbor that was a dear woman of GOD and she after working a long day at her place of employment would come home and take the time to sit down at her kitchen table and present snacks. But the icing on that cake is that this woman would take the time to share the bible-study with my best friend and I!

What impressed me so about this is the fact that this woman hardly knew me personally but opened up her heart and home to my friend and I!

I did not have the bible taught to me in my own home as a child! Which makes this act of kindness mean even more to me.

GOD always has a ram in the bush:-)

Bible study teachers are specially chosen by GOD!!

Mrs. Bolton I know that most likely you’re long gone from this side of life now and are directly in heaven worshiping GOD.

But that seed the God used you to plant into the soil of my life and heart is now very much bearing fruit:-)

I love you!!!

Isn’t HIS Throne beautiful, Mrs. Bolton?

Befitting such a magnificent KING of KINGS as our God!!!

Heavenly Father I want you to know that You fill me and fulfill me like nothing else can!

My gratitude list is going to be short but profoundly sweet this week.

I am so thankful being  that little girl sitting at Your feet just waiting for your next Word, smile, encouragement or even waiting for You to challenge me to reach for even more of You and Your wonders!

Thank you for knowing and reading my heart as if it were words dancing around on a piece of paper. You know me better than I know myself I look to You for all the answers.

I also want to share this poem that reminded me of some important things about GOD’s Promises!

What God Hath Promised -by Annie Johnson Flint

God hath not promised

Skies always blue,

Flower-strewn pathways

All our lives through.

God hath not promised

Sun without rain,

Joy without sorrow

Peace without pain.

But God hath promised

Strength for the day,

Rest for the labor,

Light for the way,

Grace for the trials,

Help from above,

Unfailing sympathy,

Undying Love.

Reasons Why My Heart Sings 20

This message is for the saints not the aints!

When we love someone we pray for them, right?

I want to emphasize praying for and not against another child of God.

Being able to go before the Throne of GOD and offer prayers is one of the greatest gifts we’ve been offered as children in proper standing with The Most High God!

And this high privilege should never be abused to try to force your will over another or the Will of GOD.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving enter into HIS  courts with praise!

Saints when we are angry with raw and unbridled emotion it is not the time to offer up prayers about the person we are angry with attempting to make ourselves feel more Godly ( acting as if we praying for our enemies).

In cases like this we wind up actually praying horribly against the person because our anger is in the drivers seat/ blinding us.

It would be better to ask GOD to help us with our anger and to understand what is fueling or motivating it.

Hypocrite first get the beam out of your own eye, then you can see your brother/sister more clearly!

No matter what we feel the other person has done to us, remember we are all sinners saved by the grace of GOD almighty!

So it is not up to us to try to speak our words over another life.

None of the other gifts given by the Holy Spirit or even the fruits of the Spirit work properly without Agape love.

For instance, acting with a lack of patience towards another child of God  can reveal a preoccupation with your needs over theirs but if the fruit of love is in operation in our lives then the fruit of God’s perfect love will gently correct your impatience.

Thus restoring the relational equilibrium.

Anger is a tricky emotion in that very often other issues, emotions, feelings and motivations hide behind it.

Pride ( thinking too highly of self) a need to be right commonly known as self righteousness, unresolved issues of self-worth that lend themselves strongly towards the expression of Jealousy, emotional issues those concerning abuse that involved shame and self loathing all can mask themselves behind a smoke screen of anger!

Can’t we all clearly see why our time spent before the throne would be best used in asking GOD to help us to unmask the real demons and culprits  behind why we are miserable and angry!

Lord, this week has been a hard one as far as lessons go. You have turned me inside-out and upside down/ showing me clearly what the enemy means to destroy me that You are bent on using every morsel for my good, benefit and ultimate growth.

I need to let you know that I know that I am your child and I am thankful and that I love you always especially so when I don’t get  what I want the way that I desire it.  I learn more about YOU and who I really am  in my trials than by serving a yes GOD.

You’re too good to pacify me!

I  accept that my full understanding of how You work is not necessary in order to offer you my full submission. I give that to you willingly because YOU are my GOD Jesus!!

Submission is not always filled with emotions of sublime pleasure sometimes it can be down right unsettling  to my emotions but YOU allow this to reinforce that I am not to  bow  to my emotions but to bow to and worship YOU only!

And there are even times that I am asked by YOU to let go of my place of being right for another child of God’s in need, but in cases as such I solely rely upon YOU for direction.

Your Spirit guides me not a list of rules!

I choose to stand with YOU Lord because YOU are the Truth and because I love you!

I am thankful for…

190. That you Lord do not abandon me in the thick of the fight!

191.  Thank you for teaching me that my faith in you is not blind or radical but that YOU Lord are all that I have to use in the pursuit of  seeing what is true, right and good.

192. Thank you for teaching me that carnal weapons never solve the problem.

193. Thank you for unmasking the real enemies and isolating the fight to the spiritual arena ( we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against powers, principalities, rulers of the darkness and wickedness in high place).

194.  Thank you for showing me that pride always kills but humility heals.

195. Thank you for the wisdom and love that you have placed  my elder brother in Christ Rev. William Boddie

196.  Thank you for preparing my heart and never allowing one in right standing with you to enter into any situation blindly.

197.  Thank you for second chances.

198. Thank you for the perfect work of  Agape Love.

199. And for its companion forgiveness.

200. Thank you for teaching me what prayer is and what it should never be used for.

201. Thank you for teaching me that there are no short-cuts in working with Your principles and precepts that each of us must pick up our cross and follow you daily.

202. Thank you Lord for emptying my heart of all the stuff that wants to crowd  You out and come between us.

203.  I am thankful for your seal of approval Lord that speaks life into my being!

204. Thank you for the reality that I am free in you Jesus.

Learning To “Discern” The “Voice and Will of GOD” In Your Life

I love communicating with people, it is one of the ways I am able to process much of what I learn.

Yesterday, I spoke with a family member and it became crystal clear to me in the middle of this conversation why we all struggle with knowing what is truly on God’s mind as it pertains to our lives.

We like to think of ourselves as GODLY men and women.  However, very often we use GOD’s name but we deny HIS Lordship in our lives.

GODLINESS

Piety or reverence toward God (1 Tim 2:2). Godliness means more than religious profession and a godly conduct; it also means the reality and power of a vital union with God.

Jesus knew the Will of His Father in heaven because HE was one with the Father.

Are we working towards being at one with Christ?

It seems to me we are very okay with having Christ as our Savior but we don’t want to turn over the “captain’s” seat to HIM.

SAVIOR

A person who rescues others from evil, danger, or destruction. The Old Testament viewed God Himself as the Savior: “There is no other God besides Me, a just God and a Savior” (Isa 45:21). Because God is the source of salvation, He sent human deliverers to rescue His people, Israel (Ps 106:21; Isa 43:3,11). This word was also used to describe the judges of Israel, those “saviors” or “deliverers” who rescued God’s people from oppression by their enemies (Judg 3:9,15).

In the New Testament the word for savior describes both God the Father (1 Tim 1:1; Jude 25) and Jesus Christ the Son (Acts 5:31; Phil 3:20). The apostles rejoiced that in Christ, God had become the “Savior of all men” (1 Tim 4:10). He was the Savior of Gentiles as well as Jews. As Christians, we are exhorted to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18).

Do any of you remember, the song by Janet Jackson back in 1985 or 86 “Control”?

The bridge of that song is song like this…

I’m in control, now I’ve got a lot

I’m in control, to get what I want.

I’m in control, never gonna stop.

I’m in control, now that I’m all grown up.

Free, at last!

That was one of my favorite songs, back then!

Our own quest for power is one of the main reasons and ways we deny HIS Lordship.

POWER

The ability or strength to perform an activity or deed. Power is sometimes used with the word authority. If power suggests physical strength, authority suggests a moral right or privilege. One can have power to perform a task but not authority to do it. Jesus Christ had both power and authority (Luke 4:36), and He bestowed these upon His followers (Luke 10:19).

My taste in music has changed considerably since turning my life over to Christ and getting to know HIS love and power has been a deeply engaging process for me and my surrender to HIM has been sweeter than I ever thought a transfer of power could be

How else do we deny His Lordship?

By bowing to other powers and principalities.

Let me tell you “Who” God is…
Jehovah/Yahweh. One of the most important names for God in the Old Testament is Yahweh, or Jehovah, from the verb “to be,” meaning simply but profoundly, “I am who I am,” and “I will be who I will be.” The four-letter Hebrew word YHWH was the name by which God revealed Himself to Moses in the burning bush (Ex 3:14). This bush was a vivid symbol of the inexhaustible dynamism of God who burns like a fire with love and righteousness, yet remains the same and never diminishes. Some English translations of the Bible translate the word as Jehovah, while others use Yahweh.

God is the author of life and salvation. His “I am” expresses the fact that He is the infinite and original personal God who is behind everything and to whom everything must finally be traced. This name, “I am who I am,” signals the truth that nothing else defines who God is but God Himself. What He says and does is who He is. The inspired Scriptures are the infallible guide to understanding who God is by what He says about Himself and what He does. Yahweh is the all-powerful and sovereign God who alone defines Himself and establishes truth for His creatures and works for their salvation.

As I have studied nutrition over the years (from worldly sources) and gained knowledge; it was not until I brought what I had learned to HIM did I begin to gain understanding and proper application of the knowledge I had obtained. I am totally into how HE tells me things in our quite time together and when I go and research those things, they always turn out to be true!!

So, I have learned that HE is the authority or power that I seek first in every department of life (even on matters such as nutrition).

I bow to what HE tells me about how to feed my body and not to some other power or principality (over HIS Word to me).

When we are faced with  important decisions most often the first voice in our hearts that speaks is our own.

You may be thinking ” so what is wrong with that”?

The problem with listening to our own inner voice is that it is a jambalaya of different things we have pick-up over the years and most of what we have “learned” is not biblically based.

Any information that you pick-up along the way has to be taken by the “Master” to discern what is useable by HIM and is not a hinderance to the plan that HE has for your life.

It is this jambalaya of stray ideas that fights against the true promptings of the Holy Spirit.

Many of the things we engage in feed our “souls” appetites but not our spirit.

Only the Word of GOD can feed your spirit.

WORD OF GOD

The means by which God makes Himself known, declares His will, and brings about His purposes. The phrases such as word of God, and word of the Lord are applied to the commanding word of God that brought creation into existence (Gen 1; 2 Peter 3:5) and also destroyed that same world through the waters of the Flood (2 Peter 3:6); to God’s announcement of an impending or future act of judgment (Ex 9:20-21; 1 Kings 2:27); to the word that declares God’s commitment and promises His blessing (Gen 15:1,4); and to a particular instruction from God (Josh 8:27).

God’s word is the primary means by which He is present and working in the world. He is not Himself part of this world, but He acts in it by means of His word. He becomes personally known through His word (1 Sam 3:21). His word is powerfully creative (Ezek 37:4) and its purposes are irresistible (Isa 55:11; Jer 23:29). God’s word is totally dependable; it represents His permanent commitment (Isa 40:8). When heard and responded to, His word meets deep needs in the human heart and provides joy, satisfaction, and confident direction which can be achieved in no other manner (Deut 8:3; Ps 119:162; Jer 15:16). God’s word has the power to penetrate all pretense and discern “the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Heb 4:12).

When we make choices outside of GOD, we will most always choose what is easiest or most  convenient from some perspective.

There are reasons that extend beyond martyrdom for taking the long way around (at least  from GOD’s perspective).

In most cases, it will have to do with building your character and your faith in HIM.

GOD always promotes based on our characters and our willingness to bow to HIM and serve.

Our lessons and trials and taking the long way around purge us of fear, which is the opposite of faith!

Fear acts as a buffer and conceals “truth” and revelations that The Holy Spirit wants to impart in our lives.

As disciples of Jesus Christ right and wrong are clearly defined but doing what is righteous in the eyes and heart of GOD will not feel good or right to our fleshy thinking and its drives and urges.

As we spend time in GOD’s Word daily and get to know His very essence through HIS words, we will begin to experience HIS righteousness as we have none outside of HIM. Our sense of right and wrong is usually very subjective, thus controlled by our feelings and past experiences. We are righteous, when we stand with GOD’s opinion. This leads to a lifestyle of praise and worship.

Are you wearing a mask?

I know it is that time of the year when many kids and adults alike play dress-up and wear mask. But, what happens when the “mask” is a permanent fixture?

Many Christians are wearing mask and have yet to be authentic versions of what GOD designed HIS church or body to be.

God never meant for HIS church or body to live out our lives wearing a mask.

How will the world recognize that The Holy Spirit that dwells within all believers of Christ if we are concealing our true identity?

What makes void the Word of GOD???

The traditions of men.

Our LORD and MASTER Jesus Christ said, ” I am the resurrection, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except by ME.”

Traditions that we celebrate need to be investigated to learn what is behind them. Many of them may not “strengthen” us as believers but could in fact undermine our spiritual growth and tarnish our witness of Christ.

If we are ever as a “body” to be recognized as being the “head” and not the tail in this world we are not to be conformed by this world ( into it’s image) but transformed (into the image and likeness of Christ) by renewing our minds (our thinking). This means that even many of our traditions will ultimately need to be checked by Christ to see if they “fit” into the newness of life HE has given us.

Halloween is a celebration originally steeped in pagan belief systems and forms of worship that go counter to many doctrines held as corner stones of our Christian faith.

It is not possible to serve two masters faithfully and without injuring one or the other!

I fully realize that this topic may touch nerves in some but my role in ministry is to provide truth (as Christ sees it) so that souls will have been given the proper information in order to choose between life and death.

Below is clip from an article on the subject of Halloween that goes into some detail.

Knock, Knock, Knock….. You open the door and there stands one or more children standing in some sort of costume, highly excited and all screaming at the top of their lungs….”TRICK or TREAT, with out knowing the meaning of what they are saying or doing.

As an adult, do you know what Halloween represents? Most people are ignorant of what Halloween is all about and for that matter don’t care. I grew up trick or treating like most kids in America and never knew what it was all about. We even had a haunted house in the attic of the little country CHURCH I attended!!!! I was like most kids in the fact that all I wanted to do is get as much candy as I could and would do what I had to do to get it!! Including fighting with my brothers and sisters to be the first at the door….Every year I was the devil. I had the most evil, horrible, grotesque, rubber mask that was ever made. I had a pitchfork and my precious mother even sewed me a long pointed tail on my red suit.

We all have stories to tell of Halloween, but do you really know what it is all about?? If all you know of it is what I have described above, you may want to read a little further and find out more info about what you are celebrating. Now if you are a pagan you know exactly what it is, if a Christian you are involved in something God forbids and if you just a “good ole boy or girl” you don’t care.

Where did it begin?

It began over 2000 yrs ago with people known as the Celtics. They lived in what is today England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. This was also the beginning of the Celtic new year, a time to give thanks to the sun god for the harvest.

What is it all about?

Halloween, All saints day, All hallows eve or All souls day is a festival. It was held to honor the Samhain the so called “lord of death”. It was a Druidical belief that on the eve of this festival Samhain, lord of death, called together the wicked spirits that within the past 12 months had been condemned to inhabit the bodies of animals.

It was a pagan belief that on one night of the year the souls of the dead return to their original homes, there to be entertained with food. If food and shelter were not provided, these evil spirits would cast spells and cause havoc toward those failing to fulfill their requests.

Sacrifices were offered on this night to the dead spirits because it was thought they visited their earthly dwellings and former friends.
