Beloved; I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Before we get started let’s pray!

Prayer is a privilege and a power as “saints” that we should never over look or take for granted.

Beloved Heavenly Father we are so thankful for your RSVP to be married and  joined with you some day in heaven in our heavenly home. A place where there are no shadows and all light, as You are the light and the life giver.

Jesus Christ and his earthly ministry painted us a clear picture of ultimately the bridge we have longed for to You Father!

Bless us to make our daily lives a celebration of Your glory in which You turn the ordinary waters of life into wine through the celebration of Your love between a man and woman.

May we be filled-up with the “new wine” that is Your Spirit!

With this new Spirit we can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens us.

Lord let us know when our hour has arrived, so that the plans that you have for our lives can unfold before those that need to hear our unique stories of salvation. Each of our stories share the way you “saved” us and Your are capable of drawing out the souls that are still in desperate search of that something, that someone that they have yet to even name. And we know that that precious something is the work of the cross and that special someone is Jesus Christ. Thank you Father for saving the best wine for the end of the celebration so the we can enjoy it once finally joined with you in our heavenly home.

In the name above all names we pray… Jesus

Amen!

Here are the verses that we will discuss this week. Please take a few minutes to read the text so that we can all enter into this discussion with the knowledge of the bible text that is being expounded upon.

John 2:1-12 (MSG)

1 Three days later there was a wedding in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there. 2 Jesus and his disciples were guests also. 3 When they started running low on wine at the wedding banquet, Jesus’ mother told him, “They’re just about out of wine.” 4 Jesus said, “Is that any of our business, Mother—yours or mine? This isn’t my time. Don’t push me.” 5 She went ahead anyway, telling the servants, “Whatever he tells you, do it.” 6 Six stoneware water pots were there, used by the Jews for ritual washings. Each held twenty to thirty gallons. 7 Jesus ordered the servants, “Fill the pots with water.” And they filled them to the brim. 8 “Now fill your pitchers and take them to the host,” Jesus said, and they did. 9 When the host tasted the water that had become wine (he didn’t know what had just happened but the servants, of course, knew), he called out to the bridegroom, 10 “Everybody I know begins with their finest wines and after the guests have had their fill brings in the cheap stuff. But you’ve saved the best till now!” 11 This act in Cana of Galilee was the first sign Jesus gave, the first glimpse of his glory. And his disciples believed in him. 12 After this he went down to Capernaum along with his mother, brothers, and disciples, and stayed several days.
The Water to Wine miracle actually kicks off Jesus’ ministry as the first sign that HE is the “Anointed One“.
Spiritually speaking Water to Wine is symbolic of “transformation” but in this bible study session we are going to focus on the wedding! I have provided some nice links below for those that want to read more on the miracle and transformative aspects of Jesus changing water to wine at the Cana wedding.

Godly love shared between a man and a woman is trans-formative in nature!
With all of the important issues going on in that day and the fact the the Jewish people were subjugated to the Romans;  would not Jesus have spent His time best “fighting” Rome with the powers that His Heavenly Father had given Him?
Instead we find Jesus enjoying Himself at his cousins wedding! Perhaps part of what made this such a joyous occasion  was seeing ahead in time HIS wedding ceremony with the body of Christ:-)
This wedding of His cousin’s took place in Cana Galilee about 7 miles north of Nazareth (Jesus’ hometown).
Also, back in those days wedding feast could last up to 7 days!
The Lord our GOD has ordained marriage by a man a woman.
A wedding is symbolic of our eternal commitment to Jesus Christ and HE first commands us to love HIM and then HE commands us to as husband and wife love one another. So as believers in Jesus Christ when we marry we are holding foundational of the oracles  of GOD before the world! This is why our life in HIM must come before joining with another soul and this is also why it is important to allow GOD to choose our mates. Pray to GOD for guidance even before dating!! If you omit this step, then you could develop feelings for someone that GOD has not chosen as your life long partner. Emotional and physical attraction alone should not be the deciding factor.
The choice to marry has to be righteous spiritually first and foremost by allowing the Holy& Righteous One to be the head of our lives in every way. We are to trust in the Lord our GOD with all of our hearts and lean not on our own understanding by acknowledging Him in all of our ways then HE will direct our paths!
Our life’s purposes and that of our potential mate must be aligned in Christ.
It is only within a union/marriage rooted and grounded between us ( HIS Church or body) with Jesus Christ that is capable of bringing forth life Spiritually.
What good is a relationship that is dead spiritually but alive with ungodly soul ties, emotion and physical love (sex)?
We are made in the image and likeness of GOD and we are tri-fold beings.
Satisfying the true needs of our spiritual personage ( the Holy Spirit) that has come to live on the inside of us is placing things in proper order. It’s a matter of giving GOD first fruits, then HE properly orders the rest.
The earthly union between the man and the woman is to bring forth more Godly seed and we are to cultivate a place and atmosphere for each family member to be nourished and to flourish to the glory of GOD!
So keeping all these things in mind it should not surprise us to see Jesus at this wedding celebrating and blessing the union by His mere presence! When two or more people gather in the Lord’s name HE is in their mist ( and weddings were ordained by HIM before the beginning of time as we know it.
Time as we know time began at”The Fall” in the Garden of Eden. When Satan, that old serpent tricked and beguiled Eve.
So that we are crystal clear on the meaning of both wedding and marriage let’s list them below.
Wedding: the act or ceremony of marrying; marriage; nuptials.

Marriage: the  institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by ,  spiritual/religious ceremonies, legal commitments etc
